This Privacy Policy explains how Nugo (“Nugo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with the Nugo web application (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Name
- Email address
- Password (for accounts created with email and password)
- Authentication data (for accounts created via Google Sign-In)
- Content you upload, including images, video files, comments, and notes
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Log and usage data, including IP address, browser type, and activity within the Service
- Device data, including device type, operating system, and browser information, collected via our error-monitoring tool
- Product usage analytics when you are signed in, collected via our analytics tool: the kinds of pages you visit in the app (for example, a project’s board, without the project’s content or any link parameters), actions you take (for example, creating a project, adding a page, or sharing a review link), and pseudonymous account, workspace, project, and page identifiers. Error reports sent to our error-monitoring tool can be linked to the same pseudonymous account identifier. Billing events (for example, a plan upgrade or a failed payment) are recorded from our payment processor’s notifications. When a Guest opens a shared review link or approves work, we record that it happened for the project without identifying the Guest. We do not collect the content of your work, your name, your email address, or your IP address for analytics, and we do not record your screen or sessions
1.3 Information from Other Sources
If you sign in using Google, we receive your name and email address from Google as part of that authentication process.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide and deliver the Service, including account creation, project storage, and collaboration features
- Enable communication between users and Guests (comments and replies)
- Create records of approved creative work (“locked” content) for users and their clients
- Respond to inquiries and provide support
- Send administrative communications, including account verification, password reset, and invitation emails
- Protect the Service, including diagnosing technical problems and preventing fraud or abuse
- Identify usage trends to improve and develop the Service
3. Legal Bases for Processing (EU/UK Users)
Where the GDPR applies, we process your personal information on the following legal bases: (a) performance of a contract, to provide the Service you have requested; and (b) our legitimate interests, specifically to protect the Service from fraud and abuse, and to understand usage trends to improve the Service, provided those interests are not outweighed by your rights and interests.
5. Interactions with Other Users
If you collaborate with others in the same organization, or use a shared review link, your name and any comments or content you post may be visible to other members of that organization or to Guests reviewing that project. We do not make your information visible to users or organizations you have not chosen to collaborate with.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active. If you close your account, we may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as security and fraud prevention.
When a client approves work through a review link, we keep a read-only copy of the approved pages for that client, including their images, the workspace name, and the approver’s name. This copy stays available to anyone with its link, even if the project, workspace, or account is later deleted. The approver or the workspace can ask us to erase a copy by contacting us at support@getnugo.com.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections, password hashing, rate limiting, and access controls that restrict data to your own organization. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
In the event of a security incident involving your personal information, we will notify affected individuals and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, including under the CCPA/CPRA and other U.S. state privacy laws, the GDPR (EU/UK), and PIPEDA and Law 25 (Canada). To exercise these rights, contact us at support@getnugo.com. You may also appeal a decision regarding your request using the same email address.
California residents: in the preceding 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information under the California Customer Records statute: name. We have not sold or disclosed this information to third parties for their own purposes.
9. Cookies
We use an essential session cookie to keep you signed in to your account.
When you are signed in, our product analytics tool (PostHog) also stores an identifier in a cookie and in your browser’s local storage, so that your use of the app is counted as one person’s. It is not used on our marketing pages or on shared review links opened by Guests, and it is not used for advertising. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we don’t collect this analytics — neither in your browser nor from our servers. Billing events from our payment processor are still recorded.
We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice, including through an in-app notice requiring review of the updated policy.
